The United Cement Company of Nigeria Limited (UniCem) was formed in 2002 as a private limited liability company under Nigerian law with registered office in Nigeria, by Holcim Trading S.A. and Flour Mills of Nigeria.

The current shareholders are Nigerian Cement Holding B.V. (NCH) and Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc. NCH is majority shareholder and is controlled by the multinational groups such of Holcim Ltd. of Switzerland, and the world’s biggest maker of cement, the Paris-based, Lafarge S.A.
