Truck driver enlightenment program

As a joint venture, UniCem, in conjunction with the Cross River State Department of Public Transport and the Federal Road Safety committee, undertakes driver enlightenment programs with the drivers from our various transporter companies (clinker, cement and fuel transporters). The route to the Mfamosing plant passes through rural villages and driver behaviour has been identified as a key contributor to road accidents. The enlightenment program commenced in August 2009 and focuses on the rules of safe driving, specifically speeding; driving techniques and skills; road traffic signage; use of seatbelts; and road worthiness of vehicles.
